In-office injectable treatments have become extremely popular because they offer a very low downtime way to treat wrinkles, folds, and depressions on the face. They can be done prior to a social event or special occasion, or to maintain a nice smooth facial contour. Oftentimes, they are performed for individuals who may not be ready for surgery, or for those post-operative patients who want to maintain their results and continue to look their best. Injectables are generally considered beginning in the third decade of life, but there is no upper age limit for this type of treatment.
The choice of injectable agent is critical to the successful treatment of wrinkles, folds, and facial depressions. An individual consultation with Dr. Bill Lyon will give you an accurate assessment of what will be best suited for your face. Often, a combination of agents may be used to achieve optimal results in different portions of your face.
Dr Lyon has an extensive experience in treating facial wrinkles with all of the available muscle relaxant toxins on the market. The optimum results are achieved with number of relatively painless injections to the treated area to achieve a smoothing result.
It will normally take several days for the effect to become established and should last several months. Over time the deeper wrinkles will continually soften and may disappear or the duration between injections should lengthen.
The areas most commonly treated are:
Many people are born with wonderful full lips, where others may have never had the desired shape or size or noticed that with time their lips are thinner than what they once were.
Enhancing lips is one of Dr Lyon’s favourite injectable, whether it is returning the lip to the shape and volume you once had or improving on what you now have or never had.
Patients initially may need further dermal filler from 1 to 3 months until the desired shape is achieved and then will require replenishment every 6 to 12 months.
Generally unless specifically specified most lip enhancements in Dr Lyon’s hand will appear completely natural once the swelling has settled in a few days.
As people age they will lose volume in their faces, from loss of fat deposits, resorption of bone and changes in the skin and deeper tissues.
Dr Lyon’s facial surgery expertise allows him to help discuss and interpret with you the areas of your face that have changed in a negative way in your mirror. He is then able to effectively structure a plan to naturally return your facial volume to a level you are happier with, this may be relatively quick or may involve a more extended period utilising different types of dermal fillers utilised in specific ways to enhance your face.
Every face is different and this is where the surgical prowess he has allows him to work with you.
Orthokine or Factor 4 has been utilised in Australia for over 10 years in a sporting environment to help heal tissue injury, it has recently been translated to treating and rejuvenating damaged or thin skin.
Dr Lyon was initially very sceptical about its effectiveness having been underwhelmed by other blood based products, however he is very enthusiastic given the wonderful results he has seen with its use.
Factor 4 uses your own blood that is then treated and spun leaving 4 times the amount of active growth factors, the serum is then reintroduced into the skin with dermal needling to significantly improve the skins tone texture and character.
To get optimal improvement patients are treated one to two weekly for three or four treatments.
Factor 4 has also demonstrated good results with improving scars and stretch marks.
Thread lifting has had a mixed history, being touted as the next great discovery with overall disappointing results, Dr Lyon believes this is due to several reasons, one is lack of training, secondly the products were not quite up to standards and being utilised where they wouldnt achieve a satisfactory result.
Dr Lyon uses a bidirectional absorbable thread and will only agree to use them if he feels you are suitable and will achieve an acceptable result. He was involved with the Asian subcommittee to agree on guidelines and suitability in patient use and as such has a strong feeling about whether they will be suitable for you or not.
