Brow Lift or Forehead Lift
A brow lift is also referred to as a forehead lift and can help to reduce or remove wrinkles, lines and ingrained facial expressions on your forehead area.
Our forehead is where our muscles and skin age more rapidly than other parts of the face due to it being such an expressive part of the face – every time you raise your eyebrows with surprise, shock or any other emotion, our forehead skin and muscles are working, moving and ageing.
This can create wrinkles and skin laxity, and can extend down into the eye area. This is why a brow lift or forehead lift is often done in conjunction with a blepharoplasty, or eye surgery. It may also be done as part of an overall facelift.
Browlift or Forehead Lift Expressions
A brow lift or forehead lift can assist to fix permanent expressions of anger, surprise or concentration. Many patients find themselves looking into the mirror as they age and see the wrinkles showing a permanent reminder of their most common expression. They can also see the effects of hard work, stress or gravity and want to turn back the clock a few years.
It is essential to choose a surgeon who has the right training and experience to perform any surgery on the face including a brow lift or forehead lift.
As it is an area that shows such emotion, if the skin is pulled too tight the patient will end up not being able to move or show any emotion leaving them with a completely unnatural and “pulled” look.
There are different techniques for a brow or forehead lift and it all relates to where the incisions are made. Different patients will require different techniques and Dr Bill Lyon will discuss which technique will suit each patient at a consultation.
An endoscopic forehead lift involves tiny incisions being made at the top of the forehead near the hairline. Then there is the coronal forehead lift which involves incisions being made from ear to ear. A direct brow lift will see incisions made in your eyebrows – this helps with wrinkles in between your eyes.
