Breast Augmentation
Because breast augmentation is performed so frequently, many patients take a casual approach to getting a breast augmentation. Breast augmentation should be thought of as an investment. Thoughtful planning and meticulous execution of the first operation is the best chance for an excellent, long-lasting result.
Though a routine plastic surgery operation, if breast augmentation is not thoughtfully planned and carefully executed, the risk of receiving a less than satisfactory result and having to undergo costly revisions is significantly increased.

Breast Lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a cosmetic surgical procedure used to improve the look of sagging breasts as a result of aging, weight loss, nursing, loss of elasticity, firmness, and other factors. When a patient undergoes a breast lift surgery, the surgeon will contour the breasts as the tissues are tightened, reshaped and extra skin is removed. Breast lift surgery has become increasingly popular over the last few years.
Removal and Replacement Breast Implants
Breast implant removal and replacement surgery is a procedure where previously placed breast implants are removed and replaced. For removal, various options are available to you including what incision to use and whether or not to remove the capsule surrounding the implant. For replacement, options include replacement or not, different types of implants, the position of the implant (over or under the muscle) and doing a breast lift at the same time.
Breast Reduction
Breast reduction (mammaplasty) reduces excess breast size and weight along with lifting your breasts. Most patients experience a dramatic improvement in symptoms immediately after reduction. They not only feel better physically but are able to wear many new clothing styles for the first time and can often participate in many activities and sports that were off limits prior to reduction.
Revision Breast Augmentation
Revision breast augmentation is an outpatient surgical procedure that corrects problems that result from a previous breast augmentation surgery. Women may simply seek revision breast augmentation because their personal cosmetic goals change.
The most common reasons that Dr. Bill Lyon recommends revision breast augmentation are:
- Changing the size, shape or position of the breast implant.
- Giving the breasts a more natural and symmetrical shape and feel.
- Correcting a condition known as “capsular contracture” that results from scar tissue around the implants.
- Replace breast implants that are leaking or ruptured.
